The Story of TYPE Clothing
What do you live by? As someone that worked for me once put it, “with Aaron, failure is not an option”. Perseverance is something I developed at an early age. It was simply necessary to survive.
As Founder & CEO of TYPE Clothing I have accumulated 10+ years of experience working with Fortune 500 brands and startups including Home Depot, AutoZone, Thermo Fisher Scientific, & Accumen. Later on I became a lead at BVAccel, the largest Shopify Plus eCommerce agency in the world, managing web design & development builds & optimizations for top brands including Red Bull, Proctor and Gamble (P&G), MVMT Watches, Frame Denim & Zendaya. More recently, I now lead a team of developers at a digital marketing agency in San Diego in addition to running TYPE Clothing.
Born in 1985, I entered this world along with my fraternal twin brother Caleb. Growing up we were inseparable and we did everything together. Caleb was very smart and artistic. He would have for sure become an artist. Growing up early on, life was that of a typical middle class American family. As we got older, things became complicated.
Around the age of 15 my brother Caleb started to develop symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. I can remember vividly the day he was describing to me what was happening with his mind. As twins, we are both currently in our 30’s. Caleb is unable to care for himself and requires 24/7 treatment from professional care takers to this day.
I, like you, have many friends and family that are affected. Just like any illness one might have, I believe that mental health diseases should be taken with the same seriousness and understanding. Mental healthcare is just as important as any other healthcare: heart health, dental health or a broken finger. Too often I see a stigma attached with those whom have mental health challenges and we need to break this barrier. We can come together as a community to help our neighbors, and most importantly ourselves, to stay mentally healthy.
To contribute towards mental illness, I decided to leverage the eCommerce and web development skills I’ve accumulated over the years to create my own store with the purpose of establishing a sustainable company that also gives back to communities . In 2017 on a walk home from work after a busy workday, I thought to myself “I love hats, I know eCommerce and I can code.. I can do this.”, TYPE Clothing was born.
TYPE Clothing is a mid-market clothing brand founded in 2017 by Aaron Kantrowitz in San Diego, CA. In the midst of its humble beginnings TYPE Clothing is introducing an entirely new generation to the possibilities of impacting mental health through its cause. The brand’s continued success helps bring the energy, emotion, and excitement of giving back to those affected by mental illness.
Take action, now. Every time you purchase from TYPE Clothing, $1 is donated directly to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
